About Us

Adrian Wood VAT Consultancy Ltd was formed in August 2013 and provides expert advice in relation to a range of areas and business types, both in the Public and the Private sectors.

It is unusual for a smaller practice to be able to provide such a diverse range of services, but it is possible for us, due to the 33 years' experience which the founding director, Adrian Wood, has, and the deep specialisms which he has developed during his careers with HM Customs & Excise and the "Big 4" firm KPMG LLP.

Throughout his long career, Adrian is proud of his high level of expertise, professionalism and commitment to fully meeting clients' needs.

Adrian started his career with HM Customs and Excise in 1973, where he worked for over 16 years, during which time, he was involved in VAT for 10 years.

Adrian joined KPMG in July 1990, as a manager, and for the 10 years prior to leaving KPMG in early August 2013, was a Director in KPMG's Scottish Indirect Tax Practice. Adrian headed up KPMG's Scottish Public Sector Tax Practice, KPMG's Scottish Public Sector Indirect Tax Practice and formerly led KPMG's National Local Authority Indirect Tax Practice. In addition to his Public Sector roles, Adrian also worked extensively with a wide range of businesses in the Private Sector.

Adrian's Public Sector experience includes: Central Government; Local Government; Non Departmental Public Bodies; Sport, Leisure and Culture Trusts; NHS Boards; Higher and Further Education Institutions; Housing Associations and Charities.

Adrian's Private Sector experience includes: Property and Civil Engineering Construction, Development and Ownership, including Housebuilders and Commercial landlords; Retailers; Manufacturers; Importers, Exporters and those trading within the EU; Lawyers, Accountants and other service providers.
